Can you imagine floating on ice? Enjoy the unique experience of lying on a frozen lake while you gaze up at the magical Northern Lights and twinkling stars in the night sky above Rovaniemi.

Northern Lights Ice Floating Experience

At the indicated time, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Rovaniemi, before taking you deep into the winter wonderland scenery of Lapland, on the outskirts of the Finnish city. After around a 10-mile (15 km) journey, you'll arrive in an area marked by its many frozen lakes and surrounded by the region's iconic snow-capped forests.

One of these icy lakes will be the location of your activity for this evening. Don't worry, the first thing you'll do is put on a special insulated suit to protect you from the freezing temperatures of the lake. Do you dare go for a dip? Your suit is designed to keep out the cold, so you can slip into the water and relax, enjoying the magnificent views of this winter paradise.

As you experience this incredible, unique activity, floating in Arctic waters, enjoy one of nature's most magical phenomena. The Aurora Borealis, or Northern Lights, fills the night sky with different coloured illuminations. You'll be left in awe of the spectacular view and its reflection on the ice-filled lake.

During the activity, you'll have the opportunity to enjoy some warm blueberry juice and gingerbread, typical snacks in the cold north of Finland.

Having finished your excursion, you'll be dropped back off at your hotel in Rovaniemi.

Important Info

Please bear in mind that, as it's a natural phenomenon, we cannot guarantee that the Aurora Borealis will be visible on this tour.

Participation Requirements

The minimum height to participate in the floating experience is 130 centimeters (4 feet 3 inches). If you don't meet this requirement, you're welcome to enjoy the northern lights display (weather and conditions permitting) with tea and biscuits, but you won't be able to take part in the lake float.

Hotel Pickup

This activity includes pickup from hotels located within a radius of 10 km (6.2 miles) from the centre of Rovaniemi. If your hotel is located in the centre of Rovaniemi, we'll meet you at Maakuntakatu 29, Rovaniemi 96200.
