More information

Located in the heart of Bruges is Markt: the central square of the Belgian city. Explore the square and discover its most interesting monuments!

Why visit the Markt?

The Markt has been the heart of Bruges since medieval times, serving as a market square, a venue for festivals, and a meeting point for locals and travellers alike.

Within the square, you'll also find the Belfry, one of the city's most iconic landmarks, and the setting for some of the most memorable scenes from the film In Bruges!

How to see the Markt

There are lots of ways to enjoy the Markt with Civitatis, from walking tours to bike tours—the choice is yours!

Did you know...

Despite Bruges' small size, it has over 80 bridges crisscrossing its extensive network of canals—it's for this reason that the city is affectionately referred to as the 'Venice of the North'!
